At a local county building, an adult grey cat frequented the grounds, accepting shared bits of employees’ lunches and brief pets. Attempts were made to find an owner, without success.
Three weeks ago he appeared with his cheek severely swollen. PCP was contacted and he was expediently trapped and taken for care. He was named Steel, because it means strong and grey.
Steel had suffered multiple injuries to his cheek and face and significant infection had set in. The area was cleaned and he was treated with antibiotics and pain medication. While under anesthesia, Steel was neutered.
Bloodwork showed that he was FIV positive. FIV is a retrovirus that attacks the immune system of cats, making them more susceptible to other infections. Primarily spread through deep bite wounds during cat fights, FIV-positive cats can live with other cats that are not infected, as long as they are not prone to fighting. Regular vet checkups, a healthy diet, and keeping the cat indoors are crucial for managing FIV.
Steel is currently in the care of a wonderful foster family. His wounds are healing nicely and they are working with him to build trust. No longer will he struggle to survive, and we look forward to the day he finds his “forever” home.

This pretty little girl and her brother were recently rescued from a rural Palmerton location.
She was named YVETTE, honoring a lady from our community for whom memorial gifts were received.
MAELYN is simply a classic beauty. She is primarily white with some black markings and tail. Her foster mom reports that she has the softest fur—it feels like satin.
MAELYN gets along well with cats and dogs. Initially shy with strangers, she will become a faithful friend and companion who will enjoy curling up on your lap for pets and a nap.
MAELYN is about 3-1/2 months old. She has been vet checked, combo tested, and dewormed. She will be spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and ready for adoption the first week of September.
On the evening of September 11th, two young kittens arrived at a PCP foster home. They were found huddled in the middle of a dirt road at a remote, rural location. Sadly, one of them did not survive. The remaining black kitten has been named Liberty.
Liberty was just one of the 72 rescued cats and kittens that came into our care since June 1st. Our foster homes have been filled to capacity and our families have been extremely busy, giving generously of their time to prepare each one for adoption.
We welcomed WHISKERS into our foster program approximately 2 months ago when she was trapped along with her two siblings. WHISKERS immediately received flea treatment, and dewormer, followed by a vet visit where she was given her first distemper vaccine and was combo tested (negative). Initially scared, WHISKERS has now come a long way due to the time and dedication her amazing foster family put into her care. She is now playful and loving.
WHISKERS is now approximately 4 months old. Last week WHISKERS was spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. This cutie is now ready to transition into her FURever home.
Lainey was trapped along with Whiskers approximately 3 months ago. A kind family welcomed them into their home as fosters. During their time in foster care the girls were flea treated, de wormed, vaccinated, microchipped, combo tested, and spayed.
LAINEY is on the shyer side and will need a more patient FURever family. But LAINEY has come a very long way from being the sassy girl she initially was.
Meet our Brave Bruno, another one of the bathtub babies. He is 16 weeks old and full of energy. He really enjoys exploring his foster home and getting acquainted with the resident cats and dogs, as you can see.
Bruno will be neutered on Wednesday and receive his final vaccines and microchipped. He has been flea and tick treated and dewormed as well.

POE is an-all black kitty with shiny, sleek fur. He has green eyes that have flecks of blue in certain lighting. He is a handsome mini panther.
POE was trapped in a remote area as an older kitten. He was scared, but quickly learned to trust his foster mom and transformed into a loving kitty. POE is initially shy with strangers, but will become a devoted companion and snuggler.
POE is neutered, vaccinated, combo tested, and microchipped. He is playful and loves other cats, but would also do well as an only pet.
MEET GERDIE
GERDIE was infamous for being a repeat Mama who FINALLY (after trapping raccoons and opossums) was trapped.
GERDIE was spayed, microchipped and vaccinated. Her rescuer recognized that she wasn’t feral and decided to give her time to relax after surgery and assess her behavior. We learned that GERDIE is a timid, but sweet girl. She would do best with someone who would be patient and understand that a new environment will take time to adjust to but we believe GERDIE will be a great companion.
GERDIE was given a clean bill of health at a local vet and combo tested negative. She is approximately 2-3 years old.
DANI was found on a blanket next to the railroad tracks with 14 other abandoned kittens. She was only weeks old.
DANI thrived in foster care and is now a confident, precocious 4-month-old, ready for a loving home.
DANI enjoys the company of both cats and dogs. She loves nothing better than to curl up in your lap for a nap. DANI has been spayed, microchipped, combo tested, vaccinated, and dewormed.
Meet the Hocus Pocus kittens Binx (black male) and Dani (female). When you come home they come to greet you. As soon as Dani gets picked up, she starts to purr. Both are very playful and inquisitive. After they are done playing, they will hop on your lap to take a nap.
They are 13 weeks old and are dewormed and had two distemper vaccines. On 28 of August, they will be spayed / neutered, microchiped, and have their last distemper shot along with their rabies vaccination.
They are good with cats and dogs as well as young children. They can be adopted together or individually.
